Both violations occurred during the third period of Thursday’s game. The first incident occurred at 52:46, when Holzer skated behind Russian forward Vadim Shipachyov in front of the German goal, delivering a cross check to Shipachyov who subsequently fell to the ice. After Shipachyov got up onto his feet, Holzer speared him in the lower part of his body.
Later at 55:25, Holzer was in front of the Russian goal together with Anton Belov, before butt-ending the Russian defenceman in the stomach with his stick.

Three players in the top five, and another at No. 23. Before Friday night, only five Finns had been taken in the top-five. Ever.
Also schauen wir einfach mal was die Finnen künftig so liefern können. If this is the sign that Finland is going to both continue developing reliable own-zone players while also producing more high-end talent that can put the puck in the net at a level similar to what Canadians and Americans are doing, this is very much a hockey country on the rise.
It’s always been reliably top-five, but could it soon surpass Sweden or Russia? A few more drafts like this and the answer might just be “yes.”
